WHY: For 29 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) of the Carolinas has served over 11,000 families with sick children keeping them close to each other and the medical care they need. RMHC of the Carolinas strives to be part of the solution to the critical needs of children by enabling family-centered care and bridging access to quality health care. As pediatric care in the Upstate has grown so has the need for the House’s services. Each year the current House of 12 guestrooms serves about 400 families but we have to turn away more than 250 due to lack of rooms. After years of planning, fundraising and construction, the House has expanded an additional 17,500 square feet and added 12 more guestrooms for families to stay close to their sick child receiving treatment at a nearby healthcare facility.
