For years, the maxi-dress has been a summer staple in my closet. This beloved style has had a long shelf life dating back to the 1960’s, and it will more than likely stick around for seasons to come. . . It certainly has the past two decades. Designers are continually creating new silhouettes while consumers are remaining “maxi” loyal.
*The cotton maxi-dress is my go to for most summer days. I personally love Old Navy’s tank version. Black, navy and gray are always on my rotation. This style is perfect for the pool and transitions beautifully to your friends cookout. (Old Navy, The Gap and ASOS offer petite, extra long and plus sizes to fit all sorts of body shapes. These offers are mainly website exclusive.)
*Attending dressy local events or that spring/summer wedding is another opportunity to “maxi” it up. Go for a bold color with feminine lines and luxe material. (Your accessories can pull it all together. Think multi-colored tassel earrings. . . YES!) I tend to gravitate towards a colorful maxi pattern with a strapless or a fab halter style neckline. Breakout a block heel, grab a stellar clutch and you’re ready to roll!
*When the seasons change to cooler months, a three-quarter sleeve maxi looks pretty chic with a great pair of booties and a sporty leather jacket. SWEET! Lastly, debut a silk wrap/velvet, belted maxi for a festive soirée with a killer pair of heels and you’re golden. CHEERS!
