The Greenville Tech Foundation will host the 2018 Workforce Development Salute on October 9, 2018 with a new format and venue. The 2018 Workforce Development Salute will highlight the recent opening of the college’s new aircraft maintenance training facility at the South Carolina Technology and Aviation Center. The 95,255 square foot, silver LEED certified facility is shared in a unique partnership with the South Carolina Army National Guard, saving taxpayer dollars while maximizing its use.
The event will be held inside the main hangar and include networking, food and beverages, and a program featuring the honorees. The 2018 honorees are Bosch-Rexroth, Greenville Health System, and Michelin North America. Together, their gifts and donations total more than 3 million dollars. The annual event emphasizes the importance of developing a skilled labor pool for Greenville’s growing workforce needs.
“Our honorees have proven time and time again their commitment to the mission of Greenville Technical College to transform lives and help our community thrive through education,” said Dr. Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College. “Not only do they help our students succeed through funds for scholarships and valuable learning tools that equip them with skills to compete for some of today’s best jobs, but these companies have consistently supported and hired our qualified graduates and keep our workforce growing.”
“Bosch-Rexroth, Greenville Health System, and Michelin North America have been long-time advocates for education and workforce development in the Upstate,” said Ann Wright, vice president for advancement of the Greenville Tech Foundation. “The Upstate of South Carolina is recognized as an innovative leader in healthcare and manufacturing careers, thanks in great part to our three honorees. We are honored these companies choose to invest in our current students, the college, and our graduates.”
