The Fountain Inn Symphony Orchestra Unveils 2017-2018 Season


Fountain Inn, S.C.—The Fountain Inn Symphony Orchestra recently released its lineup for its 2017-2018 performance season at Younts Center for the Performing Arts featuring three shows focusing on varying musical stylings.

“We’re looking forward to bringing another year of spectacular music and entertainment to the Fountain Inn community,” Brian Gencarelli, Fountain Inn Symphony Orchestra Board President, said. “Our musicians love to delight the city’s music lovers with timeless classics and musical favorites for all ages!

The Fountain Inn Symphony Orchestra’s 2017-2018 season includes the following performances under FISO conductor, Michael Moore’s direction:

New Horizons | September 16, 2017
Kicking off the season, this concert features cellist Yuriy Leonovich performing Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor and Mozart’s Paris Symphony No. 31 in D major.

An American Salute | November 10, 2017
Paying tribute to the United States’ armed forces, “An American Salute” includes patriotic classics by American composers and Dvořák’s New World Symphony. Selected war veterans from the Golden Strip will be recognized and honored for their service during the performance.

One Voice: Daybreak of Freedom | April 14, 2018
This concert features a partnership with actor/entertainer Jeremiah Dew and other guest artists to mark the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s death. Featured works include spirituals, freedom songs, and American composer Joseph Schwantner’s New Morning for the World: “Daybreak of Freedom.”

The Fountain Inn Symphony Orchestra’s distinguishing characteristic is its investment in the community’s future generations. The Fountain Inn Symphony Orchestra has dedicated itself to music education through school visits, instrument coaching, pre-concert talks and Young People’s Concerts designed specifically for local schools.

Younts Center for the Performing Arts’ season will commence with a “Season Preview” event, open to the public, on August 25 at 7 p.m. featuring both the Fountain Inn Symphony Orchestra and Fountain Inn Chorale.
