DIY Thanksgiving Looks

Put your stretchy pants on, it’s turkey time! Filled with family, football and food, Thanksgiving reminds us to count our blessings and reflect on the amazing opportunities and people that have come into our lives throughout 2017. Breaking bread with the best is a wonderful way to create memories and always gives us a fresh dose of gratitude for those we are with. Holidays are always filled with photo opps and a fun chance to dress up and look your best. Get ready for Thanksgiving with Ivy Salon’s Michelle Porterfield and check out some of her recommendations for some fun and festive looks for the holiday:

If you’ll be rolling up your sleeves in the kitchen this Thanksgiving, you’ll definitely want your hair out of your face. Try a cute headband or simple braid to keep your bangs out of your eyes and your hair from getting in your way. Functional can still be fashionable! Throw your hair up in a stylish, messy bun or try the half up, half down style.

Maybe you’ll be joining the fam for a rousing game of flag football or simply cheering on one of your favorite teams from the sofa. Twist your hair into a fun ponytail or sleek top knot to keep it out of the way but still fresh and put together.

If you and your family will be taking any holiday photos, we recommend a simple but flattering makeup look. Add an element of ease by highlighting a single feature—warm, rosy cheeks, a classic cat eye or a pop of color on the lip. A little goes a long way and you can spend your time with family and friends instead of in front of your make-up mirror.

It can get warm in the kitchen, tossing the football or mingling with friends and families so putting together a layered look is a must this Thanksgiving. If you’re taking pictures, try putting together warm neutral outfits for the whole family to coordinate (key word being try!). If you’re looking to relax this Thanksgiving a cozy, comfy sweater is always a favorite staple for colder weather. And don’t forget the stretchy pants!

For those of you looking to score a major deal this Thanksgiving at some early Black Friday shopping, comfort is going to be your main priority. You’ll want to stay warm if you’re bracing for cold weather, so a cozy, stylish beanie or hat over some tousled waves or playful braids will keep you warm in those midnight lines. Comfy shoes are also a must for standing in those crazy holiday lines.

No matter what your family’s tradition is soak it up, enjoy and be filled with gratitude. Depending on where you’ll be this holiday you may be wearing shorts, lots of layers or a dress. Be you and be beautiful! Happy Thanksgiving!
