Buncombe Street United Methodist Church (BSUMC), recently hired two new staff, Angela Galbreath as Communications Director and Andrew (Andy) Fox as Director of Youth Ministries.
Ms. Galbreath joins BSUMC as the Communications Director, a new role created by the church to serve a membership that has now grown to more than 3,000 members across two campuses. Since graduating from Sewanee in 2005 with a degree in Global Studies, Galbreath has worked in community development, destination promotion, and hospitality. She lived in Haiti for five years where she facilitated post-earthquake communications for the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti as well as served as Copy Editor for two Haitian travel publications.
Angela is excited to join a historic community that is very much alive in the heart of downtown. She feels all church communications should tell a story: “Church is a refuge for many people. By communicating through stories we can offer inspiration amidst all the noise of life,” Galbreath said.
Mr. Fox was hired as Director of Youth Ministries. Over the last twenty years he has ministered to young people and their families through working in a variety of United Methodist and Presbyterian (PCUSA) churches, camps, and non-profits literally from coast to coast, from California to Louisiana, and now South Carolina. He is passionate about helping create ministries that foster a sense of belonging for all; a foundation to both spiritual and measureable growth in youth ministry. Fox holds a Bachelors degree in Youth Ministry Leadership from Eastern University.
“One of the main reasons that I love working with teenagers is that like infants, teenagers are in one of the biggest growth stages in human development,” explained Andy Fox. “They aren’t quite set in their ways like us old folks! They still see the world and question why things are the way they are, and I think this is beautiful and needed, especially in the church.”
