GREENVILLE, S.C. –Bon Secours St. Francis employees welcomed a new neighbor into Greenville’s Sterling community on Friday, dedicating the home that they built with Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County for Brad Allmond and his sons.
Friday’s dedication was the culmination of a four-month build, where Bon Secours St. Francis employees, Habitat volunteers, and Allmond and other homeowners worked alongside each other to construct the home.
This is the fourth Habitat home that Bon Secours St. Francis Health System and their employees have helped build. They have committed to building ten homes in the Sterling community over the next several years.
“Bon Secours St. Francis Health System stands committed to Greenville County and specifically the Sterling community by not only providing excellent healthcare but also supporting initiatives such as affordable housing which is in keeping with our mission of being Good Help to Those in Need®. We are honored to partner with Habitat for Humanity in their efforts to make homeownership a reality for so many well-deserving families. On behalf of all the staff at Bon Secours St. Francis, we are eager to welcome the Allmond family to the neighborhood,” said Craig McCoy, CEO of Bon Secours St. Francis Health System.
As a Habitat Greenville program participant, Allmond has completed 25 hours of homeownership education classes as well as 200 hours of “sweat equity,” building his home and the homes of other Habitat homeowners, all while working full time and raising his sons. He will pay an affordable mortgage for the home.
During the dedication, build partners and sponsors presented the Allmond family with additional gifts that will prepare them for life as homeowners, including tools, a vacuum cleaner, lawnmower, and cleaning supplies.
“We are deeply grateful for the generous support of Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, and for their dedication to building healthy communities through affordable housing,” said Monroe Free, Executive Director of Habitat Greenville. “They are truly making a difference in our community.”
