5 Ways to Disguise a Bad Hair Day

Did you and your hair wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? Trust us, we have been there! Whether the weather is not cooperating or you decided to skip your wash day, bad hair days are unavoidable. Our stylist Karla Eschmann put together her five best tips to disguise a bad hair day! Be sure to follow her on Instagram at @hair.by.karla.

1. Dry Shampoo + Teasing

Dry Shampoo is a godsend for all of us in need of a little hair pick-me-up. This product absorbs excess oil and grease, giving your hair a cleaner, fresher appearance. Combine Dry Shampoo with teasing your roots and you are ready to take on the day!

We recommend AVEDA’s shampure™ dry shampoo. This Dry Shampoo helps extend a great blow dry, revive hair after a workout, refresh hair while traveling and transform hair before a night out.

2. Braiding It Out

French and Fishtail and Dutch, oh my! Who doesn’t love a good braid? While braids cover up that second or third day hair, they look much better on those days as well.

We recommend a simple 3 Strand Braid to get it out of the way. If you’re feeling frisky, go with a Pull Through Braid!

3. All the Accessories

Bad hair days are the reason accessories exist. From ponytail scarfs and turbans to headbands and bandanas, the possibilities are endless! For a casual look, throw on a ball cap and pull your ponytail out the back. For a more sophisticated look, add a headband or cute fedora into the mix.

4. Bun’s Out

One of the easiest ways to disguise a bad hair day is to throw your hair up in a big bun. Whether it’s a low bun, ballet bun or messy bun, any kind of bun is a sure-fire way to cover up your crazy hair.

5. Product, Product, Product

Product is key for taming that crazy, unpredictable hair.

When the weather is uncooperative and your hair is frizzing all over the place, ditch the smoother, more polished look and go with a tousled, beachy look. For this we recommend AVEDA’s texture tonic which instantly creates piecey, defined texture and provides a soft, touchable texture with natural shine.

Another go-to product we recommend is AVEDA’s control force™ firm hold hair spray which will fight humidity for 18 hours and hold your hair in place. Use this product for big hair, a powerful pony or an amped up look.
