United Community Bank Ice on Main, downtown Greenville’s only outdoor skating rink’s seventh season has ended on January 15, 2018. This year’s total number of skaters exceeded 13,008 over the nine-week season, bringing the seven-year total to more than 103,293 skaters.

“As we conclude our seventh season, it’s essential to express our gratitude to the sponsors and community partners who help make this special event a reality. A big thank you to those who dedicate their own time, resources and energy to be a part of this special tradition,” said Mayor Knox White “United Community Bank Ice on Main would not be the rink it is today without all the support we get from not only sponsors and partners but the community. Thank you!”

United Community Bank returned as title sponsor for the fifth year and continued to sponsor the sales of gloves and socks at the rink throughout the season. This year, the proceeds from these sales totaled $2,185 and United Community Bank Greenville County President Michelle Seaver will present this amount to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas.

“It is hard to believe we are already celebrating another successful season of Greenville’s only outdoor rink,” said Michelle Seaver, President of United Community Bank—Greenville County. “We love being a part of such a magical event that not only provides a family-friendly activity for all ages, but has become an integral part of downtown Greenville during the holidays, and helps stimulate additional traffic for downtown shops and restaurants. United Community Bank has been honored to be a part of this special tradition for the past five years.”

The winner of the fourth annual Skate Your Way to Broadway sweepstakes was also selected after the closing of the season. The grand prize winner, Jeff French of Greenville, won roundtrip airfare from GSP International Airport to New York City, tickets to skate at Rockefeller Center, tickets to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and at opening night at the Peace Center, and a $500 gift card from United Community Bank. This contest was sponsored by GSP International Airport, the Peace Center and United Community Bank.
