The Pickens County Humane Society (PCHS) is a 501 (c) (3), nonprofit organization chartered for the prevention of animal cruelty located in Liberty, SC. PCHS has quietly accomplished critically important work over 46 years on behalf of animals in need of health care, shelter, and the opportunity to become a loving family member, making a difference in the lives of so many – seniors, families, and those who just needed a friend.
Over the years, Director Samantha Gamble shared, PCHS has been subsidized by the county. In recent years that subsidy was cut, and to our surprise not renewed this year. While a list of passionate and caring donors has filled the gap, it just hasn’t been enough with the total funding cut. Being realists, the PCHS board and staff had to prepare a closure plan for the animals and employees alike. That date was set for December 31st. However, there is hope!
Recently PCHS was selected for pro-bono marketing assistance.
Is it too late?
They don’t think so, as they work toward a Christmas Miracle to raise $70,000 by December 31st. They have almost 25% of that donated as of today. This funding will give them the time to continue to make a difference to the animals and citizens of Pickens County while they launch their strategic plan to not just exist, but make a real difference in the Upstate by expanding with a Spay/Neuter/Low Cost Vaccine Clinic and enhanced educational and adoption events.
They need help, however, to Save the Shelter – Save the Animals! Time is short. If they can receive one large challenge gift, everyone reading this goes to the funding site: www.gofundme.com/pickenscountyhumanesociety . . . makes a donation of any size and follows it with a personal challenge to others to do the same, they will get our Christmas Miracle!
