 After School Explorers: Bingo for Books! At Headquarters Library (Wednesday November 1, 4-5pm) Join the afterschool explorers for a fun game of Bingo and a chance to win some great books!

November 2

Community Helpers: Spartanburg Martial Arts Cyrill-Westside Library (Thursday November 2, 11:30-12pm) Join the library for a Snuggle and a Story Family time and to continue the Community Helpers series. There will have a visit from Spartanburg Martial Arts. Get ready for some active fun.

Legomania at the Boiling Springs Library (Thursday, November 2, 2017, 4–5pm) Legomania is back in Boiling Springs. There will be various types of Legos for you to explore and build with. Please sign up by calling the Library or stopping by the front desk. This event is for ages 5k-4th grades. Refreshments will be served.

Under The Sea Crafts at Cyrill-Westside Library (Thursday, November 2, 2017, 6:30 – 7:30pm)

From mermaids to sharks, join us to enjoy under the sea themed crafts.

November 3

STEAM Garden Kick Off! (Friday November 3, 3-6pm) Join the STEAM Garden Team for a fun day outside as they open the area to the community. There will be posters to show what the final product will look like placed throughout the garden site. They will lead construction of one raised bed, while another raised bed will be pre-built and ready to accept plants. Learn more about the STEAM Garden! The STEAM Garden will be located at the former site of the Spartanburg Swim Center.

Ms. Baba’s Honey Bears Sensory Program at Headquarters Library

(Saturday, November 4, 2017, 10 – 11am) A sensory learning program for children twelve and under and their caregivers meets on the first Saturday of each month for stories, songs, chants, rhymes and sensory play.

Saturday Lego Block Party at Cyrill-Westside Library (Saturday, November 4, 2017, 10:30

– 11:30am) Join the library crew for our Lego Block Party. With over 55 pounds of Legos – the possibilities are endless and it is not your mess to clean up. There will be a special area for those under the age of 4 to play too.

Bruce’s Big Move Storytime at Barnes and Noble (Saturday November 04, 2017 11:00 AM) When Bruce gets frustrated and sets off on his own, nothing goes quite according to plan. Head out to hear this hilarious Storytime that is sure to keep kids giggling.

Guided Nature Hike with The Spartanburg Science Center and The Tyger River Foundation (Saturday November 4, 10-11am) Join the Science Center and The Tyger River Foundation for a Guided Nature Hike at Nesbitt Shoals. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. $3 per adult. Ages 14 and under and Science Center member are free of charge!

Build a Military Appreciation Humvee at Home Depot (Saturday November 4, 9-12pm) Head to the nearest Home Depot for a hands on workshop to build a custom wooden humvee to honor all those that have served our country. Your child can personalize the humvee with paint and stickers. The activity is FREE and each child receives a certificate of achievement, an apron, and a pin while supplies last!

Fall Foliage Hike with Spartanburg Parks (Saturday November 4, 9am-2pm)

Ages 8 and up. $10 per hiker; Children must be accompanied by an adult. Join Spartanburg Parks to hike a 4.1 mile lollipop trail at Keowee-Toxaway State Park which is known for the fall foliage during the months of September through November. The trail is a moderate hike due to elevation grades. The group will depart from Lake Cooley at 7:00 A.M. and the hike will begin at 9:00 A.M. & arrive back at Lake Cooley around 2:00 P.M. depending upon speed of hikers. Green Spartanburg Science Center and the Student Galleries are all open with free admission. Star Wars Character Day at Cyrill-Westside Library

STEAM – Mayflower Challenge at Landrum Library (Tuesday, November 7, 2017, 4 – 5pm) The STEAM challenge this month will be to build the Mayflower ship using various materials to build it, sail it and load it with passengers and cargo. All materials and a light snack will be provided.

13th Annual GHS Turkey Day 8k (Thursday November 23, 7:30 am) Join Partners for Active Living for the 13th Annual Greenville Health System Turkey Day 8K in downtown Spartanburg on Thanksgiving morning. Registration begins at 7:00 am at the statue and the run will begin at 7:30 am.Partners for Active Living (PAL) hosts this annual event free of charge to the community but graciously accepts donations so we can continue to work to make Spartanburg a healthier, more active place to live and grow.

A Dickens of a Christmas in Downtown Spartanburg (Tuesday November 28, 6-9pm)

A Dickens of a Christmas is a community tradition that signals the start of the Christmas season. The “Charles Dickens” period event offers horse-drawn carriage rides, living windows, artisan demonstrations, strolling carolers, a Christmas Market, and the official lighting of the Denny’s Christmas tree.

Hub City Kids
At Hub City Kids, our mission is to promote community involvement, local activities, health, and creativity for kids in Spartanburg.  We use visual reminders on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to keep parents up to date with exciting things happening in Spartanburg while also providing creative ways to enjoy the many beautiful places in Spartanburg County.

We are Sarah Kate Abee and Katie Burnett-childhood friends, Spartanburg natives, and moms of preschoolers with hearts for serving children.  This, combined with our professions in the fields of early childhood education and pediatric occupational therapy, gives us a unique perspective and understanding of the importance of keeping kids active and involved in the community.  As we searched for quality activities for our own children, we saw the need for an easy to access resource for parents that compiles local events and opportunities for kids.

A few things you can expect to find on our site includes: pictures of kids' activities in the Spartanburg community, healthy snack ideas, “boredom busters,” scavenger hunts for local trails, and kid friendly community service ideas. While our passion at Hub City Kids is sharing all of the awesome free activities already happening in our community, we also offer advertising services for businesses that align with our four areas of focus.  

You can find Hub City Kids at the Hub City Farmer’s Market the third Saturday of each month, bringing you healthy food ideas for kids, fun games, and resources for local kids' activities. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and make sure to visit our tent at the Farmer’s Market!
