Build a Bug House at Home Depot (Saturday July 1 9-12pm) Head to the nearest Home
Depot for a hands on workshop to build a wooden bug house! Your child can personalize the
bug house with paint. The activity is FREE and each child receives a certificate of achievement,
an apron, and a pin while supplies last!

Sensory Friendly showing of Despicable Me 3 at NCG (Saturday July 1 at 10 am) NCG
will play Despicable Me 3 with no previews, dim lighting, and a lower noise level than a typical
movie. Your little ones can wiggle and talk without the worry of disturbing other movie goers.

Kids Club® Sprout® Kody Kapow Slime Jar at Michaels (Saturday July 1, 2017 10:00 AM –
12:00 PM) $2 They craft, you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy customizing slime and decorating

balance beams- just to name a few! Willow Oaks Park is located on West Hampton Avenue in
Hampton Heights!

Family Program: Spartanburg Humane Society at the Westside Library (Thursday, July 6,
2017, 2 – 3pm) Head to the Westside Library for a visit from the Spartanburg Humane Society.
You will even have a chance to meet a furry friend. This program is open to all ages but geared
towards 2nd-6th graders.

City Of Spartanburg’s Let’s Play Mobile at Priscilla Rumley Park (Thursday July 6, 5-7pm)
The Let’s Play Mobile is brought to you by the City of Spartanburg. The mobile recreation
vehicle is filled with fun for kids of all ages! Hula hoops, balls, jump ropes, arts and crafts,
balance beams- just to name a few! Priscilla Rumley Park is located between Hudson Barksdale
Boulevard and Alexander Avenue.

Kids Night Out at Hearts of Clay (Friday July 7, 6 – 8:15pm) $25/child Enjoy a night out
while your kids enjoy a pizza dinner and Flag Plate craft with the Hearts of Clay staff.

Little Excavator: Storytime (Saturday July 08, 2017 11:00 AM) Head out to Barnes and
Noble Spartanburg with your construction loving kiddos to hear about a new character ready to
dig his way into your heart! Little Excavator joins Loader, Dump Truck, Backhoe and Crane as
they get ready to transform a vacant lot into a neighborhood park. Activities to follow.

Living History Saturday at Walnut Grove Plantation (Saturday July 8, 11am-4pm) Head to
Walnut Grove Plantation to see a living history event and visit with the South Carolina
Independent Rangers. Learn about life in the country during the Revolutionary War era. Regular

3pm) Families are invited to join the Westside Library some for sharpie tie dye fun. Each
participant is asked to bring a white or lightly colored t-shirt to use. However, all other supplies
will be provided. This program is open to children of all ages,but family programs are geared

July 26, 6:30-8:30pm) Festivities include on-field performances by the TopCats, Sir Purr,
PurrCussion and Black & Blue Crew, Mayor’s Ball Run delivery, face painting, food, interactive
games, sponsor displays and more. Admission is free.

– 10:30am) Explore the world of science with the Westside Library. From dry ice, candy and
more have fun creating reactions that will startle and amaze.

Hub City Kids
At Hub City Kids, our mission is to promote community involvement, local activities, health, and creativity for kids in Spartanburg.  We use visual reminders on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to keep parents up to date with exciting things happening in Spartanburg while also providing creative ways to enjoy the many beautiful places in Spartanburg County.

We are Sarah Kate Abee and Katie Burnett-childhood friends, Spartanburg natives, and moms of preschoolers with hearts for serving children.  This, combined with our professions in the fields of early childhood education and pediatric occupational therapy, gives us a unique perspective and understanding of the importance of keeping kids active and involved in the community.  As we searched for quality activities for our own children, we saw the need for an easy to access resource for parents that compiles local events and opportunities for kids.

A few things you can expect to find on our site includes: pictures of kids' activities in the Spartanburg community, healthy snack ideas, “boredom busters,” scavenger hunts for local trails, and kid friendly community service ideas. While our passion at Hub City Kids is sharing all of the awesome free activities already happening in our community, we also offer advertising services for businesses that align with our four areas of focus.  

You can find Hub City Kids at the Hub City Farmer’s Market the third Saturday of each month, bringing you healthy food ideas for kids, fun games, and resources for local kids' activities. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and make sure to visit our tent at the Farmer’s Market!
