Homemade Chili

My husband grew up eating chili in Indiana. Chili in the North is much different than what is considered chili in the South. You would probably refer to this more as a chili soup. Whatever you decide to call it, it’s the perfect dish to serve up as we are still amid colder temperatures. Don’t forget you can also change it up to make it to your liking. This recipe is very mild, feel free to spice it up. 😊

Chili Soup

2 qt tomato juice

1 lb hamburger, browned

Kidney bean can

Pinto bean can

Chili bean can

Tomato paste – 3 T

Envelope of chili mix

Dash of onion powder

Dash of garlic powder

2 handfuls of elbow noodles

 

Combine all ingredients in a large stock pot except for the elbow noodles. Bring to a boil & then simmer over medium heat at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Add macaroni & cook another 10 minutes.

Serve with warm cornbread on the side. Top with cheddar cheese and sour cream if desired.
