Circling up with Circa

Welcome to Circa Makers & Merchants, an artisan and vintage gallery! We’ve followed them closely for a while now, and wanted to give you the inside scoop on the who, what, where and why behind this creative hub.

The CLUTCH: Tell us a little bit about how you got started.
Circa: In April of 2016 we opened our doors to our first customers. One year later, we couldn’t be more excited or grateful to share our continuing story.

TC: What inspires you and your aesthetic, along with your inventory?
Circa: At the very heart of Circa is a love for authenticity. Our store philosophy is simple: we believe things and people are more interesting when they have a great story.

TC: Do you have a “Story” you’d like to share?
Circa: Yes! The Circa story started with 2 moms; one with an unlikely dream and the other with encouraging words and an old building to lease! Today, our customers know Circa as a curated gallery of vintage treasures, curiosities and quality artisan made goods.

TC: What is your goal for Circa buyers?
Circa: We hope as you step through the doors of Circa that you’ll notice how vintage furniture and accessories feel right at home in our beautiful historic building.

TC: Where are you located?
Circa: We are located on Main Street in downtown Easley and was originally built in the 1800’s. The exposed brick walls and high ceilings provide a simple, yet dramatic backdrop for original art and artisan made goods.

TC: What can people expect when they visit?
Circa: We are especially proud to represent many local makers whose offerings include 100% soy wax candles, leather goods, shibori dyed textiles, copper jewelry and sculpture, paintings, collage works, pottery, handmade jewelry, custom built furniture, woodworking and so much more. We also represent several makers and artists from other areas of the United States. One of our favorite international partnerships is with Basha Boutique. Basha is an organization in India helping women to escape sex trafficking. Their colorful kantha textiles are beautifully handcrafted and have quickly become a customer favorite! Examples of vintage items you may find at Circa include mid-century modern furniture and art, architectural salvage, retro lighting, as well as vintage original art. For our customers who prefer to paint their vintage finds, we recently became retailers for Fusion Mineral Paints. Later this year we plan to offer Fusion painting workshops.

TC: You’ve inspired us to stop by. . . Any parting thoughts for our readers?
Circa: Whether you’re looking for the perfect vintage pieces to personalize your home, original art to fill a special space, unique jewelry or accessories for your wardrobe, or a meaningful gift for someone special, Circa is the place to visit! Owner, Erin enjoys using her 20+ years of professional interior design experience to help customers choose just the right pieces! We are located at 219 West Main Street, Easley and our hours are Friday and Saturday 10am-5pm or by appointment. Or follow us on Instagram or Facebook for updates on new merchandise, events and more! We look forward to meeting you some “Circa Weekend”!
